From July 3rd to 23rd, over 800 athletes from 25 countries will compete in the global event that turns Milan into the capital of urban sports.<\/p>\n
Milan is gearing up to reclaim its place on the international stage of urban sports scene with the HERO BATTLE CUP 2025, one of the most anticipated events in the world of inline freestyle skating. Following the success of last year\u2019s edition, the city will once again host the Italian leg of the Inline Freestyle World Cup, now in its 17th global edition.
\nRecognized by the International Olympic Federation World Skate and supported by Skate Italia \u2013 Federazione Sport Rotellistici, the event holds a 3-star rating \u2014 the highest level in the global ranking \u2014 and draws the best talents from the international scene. For 20 days, Milan will become an open-air stage where sport, urban culture, and innovation converge.<\/p>\n

This extraordinary event will welcome over 800 athletes from 25 countries \u2014 including China, India, South Korea, Spain, France, Poland, Taiwan, Iran, Chile, and Ukraine \u2014 competing across all inline freestyle disciplines:
\n from classic to battle, speed slalom to slide and jump \u2014 an adrenaline-fueled mix of technique, music, and performance.
\nTo make the experience even more immersive, a dedicated urban sports village, complete with cutting-edge structures, interactive zones, workshops, and initiatives focused on sustainability, design, and urban innovation.<\/p>\n
The 2025 edition will take place in Piazza Duca d\u2019Aosta, one of Milan\u2019s most iconic and challenging urban spaces.<\/p>\n
“Milan welcomes the Hero Battle Cup for the second year,” says Martina Riva, City Councillor for Sport of the Municipality of Milan, “and it does so in one of the most iconic and complex areas of the city: Piazza Duca d\u2019Aosta. Hosting athletes from all over the world here is more than just sport \u2014 it\u2019s a conscious choice. It means transforming a transit square into a space for meeting, living, and sharing, opening up new perspectives on how we experience public space. With the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics on the horizon, events like this help us build a daily culture of urban and inclusive sport that speaks to everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
A message echoed by Alessandro Cola, President of ASD Conero Roller and event organizer:<\/p>\n
“This year, we\u2019re bringing the best of Italian and international skating to Milan: 5 world champions, 11 current global ranking leaders. It will be 20 days of sport, spectacle, and passion\u2014with events broadcast live for the first time on national TV. Milan reaffirms its role as a capital of sport and innovation, ready to welcome thousands of young people and fans to a major international event that blends energy, culture, and community.\u201d.”<\/p>\n
Federica Picchi, Undersecretary for Youth and Sport of the Lombardy Region, also highlighted the event\u2019s impact:<\/p>\n
“Events like the HERO BATTLE CUP represent the sports of a new generation: dynamic, engaging, and deeply tied to urban and youth culture. The Lombardy Region supports events that bring together entertainment and participation, promoting community, talent, and innovation. Milan once again proves itself a sporting capital with its eyes on the future.\u201d
\nThe HERO BATTLE CUP 2025 will also be a perfect springboard toward Milano Cortina 2026, as many roller disciplines share origins and techniques with ice sports that will feature in the upcoming Olympic Games.
