Slide is a highly spectacular discipline that highlights control, strength, technique, and personal style. It is the only Freestyle event focused on braking rather than slaloming.

What makes this discipline unique is the execution of technical stops, called slides, performed on inline skates with speed and precision—without using the brake!

Types of Slides:

Slides are evaluated and differentiated based on three main factors:

  1. Number of skates involved: Slides can be performed on one skate or both skates.

  2. Direction of the “brake”: Whether the slide is done moving forward or backward.

  3. Combinations of slides: Various slide moves combined in sequence.

Judges score performances based on technical difficulty, control and balance, fluidity, originality and variety, as well as speed, smoothness, and precision.

The combination of these factors creates an endless variety of tricks, increasing both the challenge and the spectacular impact of the performance!

The Slide Battle competition unfolds as an exciting head-to-head showdown between groups of 4 athletes. Each skater showcases their repertoire of tricks, challenging opponents slide after slide in a series of spectacular rounds.

Only the best from each group advance to the next stages, with adrenaline and skill building up to the decisive final phase: the showdown!
